Caterpillar Inc. has acquired all assets of Underground Imaging Technologies, Inc. (UIT) through its majority owned affiliate, Underground Imaging Technologies LLC. UIT is an advanced geophysical services company and technology developer based in Latham, N.Y. The acquisition will give Caterpillar the capability to provide geophysical services, specializing in providing three-dimensional representations of underground utilities and other targets.
Caterpillar Forest Products debuted the SC-57 center post saw at the East Coast Sawmill and Logging Equipment Exposition, May 21-22 in Richmond, Va. The new saw fells trees up to 22 in. diameter and also bunches medium and small stems, making it a versatile saw for thinning through final harvesting. The large box-section gathering arms are designed to support loads that can twist or bend the arms of less rigid saws.
